Art Bio:
Blake Fisher resides in Bali, Indonesia (previously San Diego, CA), in the company of his family. Over the past eight years, Blake has been diligently crafting his inaugural series, which embraces a diverse range of abstract themes, mediums, and designs. Each artwork in this series provides a distinctive lens through which to contemplate life, emotions, and the cosmos.
From a young age, Blake exhibited a natural artistic talent, expressed through creativity. However, this talent took a back seat during his military service.
Blake's creative journey is fueled by an unwavering fascination with the fundamental underpinnings of consciousness and their interplay with the universe. This realization blossomed during his transition out of the Marine Corps, where he sought purpose and meaning, ultimately discovering that the essence of existence is what fuels his passion. In this transformative period, the calling of an artist emerged as an inherent part of his being, not a conscious choice, but a recognition of something deeply innate, awaiting its moment to shine.
In Blake's artwork, one can discern a captivating spectrum, ranging from dynamic abstracts to serene geometric landscapes that beckon introspection. These paintings stand as a testament to the boundless wellspring of creativity within the human psyche.
Picture a meeting of minds where Jackson Pollock encounters Mikael Brandrup, or envision the fusion of the Rorschach test with the harmony of geometric unity. Themes of symmetry, expansiveness, skylines, and faces emerge in Blake's creations, each offering a unique artistic perspective.
Blake approaches his work with the dedication of a craftsman, infusing passion into the creation of one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Whether through metal, canvas, wood, acrylic, oil, epoxy, or enamel, each medium converges to fashion something extraordinary and incomparable.
Artist Statement:
My Process typically starts with a 50 foot roll of primed canvas. It's rolled out over my studio floor and my kids get to throw down the first layers of paint. They have complete artistic freedom to do whatever they want to approximately 25 square feet. My oldest gets to use some spray paint. I give them neons and other bright acrylics. They push the paint around with their feet, sticks, paint brushes, they use tape and stencils and get completely covered in paint. This is a typical first layer. Bright, bold, neon backdrop. I come in after and build upon their shapes, abstract paint splatter and drips they left behind. Through a continuous process of refinement, I persist until I witness the depth within the confines of a flat canvas. The unconscious mind recognizes it instinctively. Some turn into translucent jellyfish, some into City Skylines, and others into faces or geometric shapes. This process can take multiple years and has anywhere between 30 to 60 layers of paint. Every piece of my artwork bears validation through an embedded luminescent signature, intricate designs, and symbols. In complete darkness, each creation adopts distinct and captivating characteristics.
